boulder safely.

This 3 minute video has a walk-through of the gym and explains the basic dos & don'ts of bouldering at BlocHaus.

please read & keep in mind our haus rules so we can all have fun & stay bould.

safety waiver.

It is important to understand that bouldering is a physical activity with inherent risk. Before using the facilities at BlocHaus you need to complete a waiver. Save time and paper by filling it out online or print out and bring in with you.

safe landing.

  • Climb down whenever possible, using any holds – look for fluoro pink holds at the top of the walls for dedicated down-climb jugs

  • Land on both feet evenly to distribute impact – collapse your knees and hips to roll onto your butt

  • Never land on straight legs

  • Always avoid rotation when jumping or falling

  • Let the mat absorb your impact

  • Practice falling from a low height to gain confidence first

fitness area.

  • Strictly no access under 16 years

  • No chalk in this area please

  • Clear away the equipment you’ve used

  • All equipment must be wiped down with a towel after use

  • No dropping barbells, dumbbells or kettlebells to the floor

  • No ball slams against any of the walls inside and outside (floor slams are fine)

  • Use spotters, adjust your equipment & train safely

FamilyHaus.

FamilyHaus is for climbers big & small. Everyone must share the space accordingly. In particular, adult climbers in this area must be mindful of younger climbers.

boulder etiquette.

  • Stay off the mats unless you’re climbing or keep a distance of 2 metres from the wall when walking around – no running

  • No bottles/phones/toddlers/dogs on the mats

  • Eyes open & look up when you walk around, climbers can drop from above any time

  • Shoes must be worn when on the wall

  • If a climber is already on the wall, let them finish first before you start

  • Don’t start a climb that crosses paths with another climber on another climb

  • Empty your pockets & remove all jewellery before climbing

  • Keep brushes away from walls a minimum of 2 meters

  • If someone has just brushed a climb, it’s their go on it

  • Don’t brush holds underneath a climber on the wall

  • Working on a boulder in a group – watch out for each other that the crash zone is clear

  • Help promote a safe bouldering environment by sharing safety tips with the people around you

main gym access.

The main gym is designed for climbers 12 years and over. We have a dedicated FamilyHaus for younger kids and families to climb together.

Kids under 12 years can enjoy the slackline & hang out areas, but there is no access to climbing areas in the main gym for both their own safety and the safety of others.

key rules for kids.

  1. No running on the crash mats

  2. Stay off the mats when you’re not climbing

  3. Look out for climbers above & around you.

the Joker – top out boulder.

  • After topping out, keep clear of the edges of the Joker

  • Use the fluoro pink ladder to climb down

  • Check the down-climb ladder is clear before descending

  • No running, jumping, dancing, handstands or cartwheels on top of the Joker

puppy policy.

At BlocHaus we welcome your pooch because we believe they are part of the family.

Please make sure they’re on lead, off the white mats & behaving appropriately.

We also appreciate not everyone wants to get up close with fur babies & ask that you & your furry friend respect the personal space of others. Dog owners may be asked to remove their dog from the premises if needed.
